100 Mbps and nothing else in Manila BGC

Three weeks in BGC is three weeks too many.

I visited Manila recently as my entry point in the Philippines. Specifically, I stayed in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), which is a safer and more secluded part of Metro Manila often recommended for first-time visitors and digital nomads.

I stayed a couple of weeks because I wasn't sure about the internet situation in the Philippines in general, with many people reporting difficulty even in Manila itself.

If you are wondering whether it is possible to have good internet connectivity in BGC, the answer is yes. Actually, my internet connection far exceeded expectations, as I enjoyed a stable 100 Mbps both up and down.

Manila BGC

The problem is that BGC is a weird city in and of itself. It tries to be a posh place with many malls, expensive restaurants, and some services, and... nothing else?

The city feels like one big shopping mall without anything to do. My biggest disappointment was the lack of fitness facilities, specifically the lack of fitness facilities where you can pay for a single entry visit. Weirdly, BGC doesn't even have a real park to stroll.

At least you can easily do your Filipino visa extension here, dip yourself in your condo pool, and exit quickly, as the airport is very near for Manila standards.
